Caritas MADDO, through its Departments of Health and Welfare made merry this year’s World Day of the Sick organised in Nkoni Parish – Lwengo District. Over one thousand patients were attended to and given free therapeutic health services. There was donating blood, voluntary testing and counseling for HIV/AIDS for at least all the patients, besides the elderly and the most vulnerable persons received basic essential items like; sugar, soap, clothing & food among others.

in Kyotera District where over 230 participants were exposed to all the activities trained and promoted by the Caritas MADDO and these include establishing kitchen gardens, soil and water conservation structures, waste pits, well managed coffee and banana plantations, tree planting, tree nursery management, animal management, sweet potato silage making and feeding, raising banana tissues in nursery, dish racks, wood saving stoves, water harvesting technologies among others

Fish farming sector in Uganda continues to grow faster. Caritas MADDO is being supported by OPAM(Opera di Promozione della Alfabetizzazione nel Mondo) has continued to support the rural poor improve their welfare in nutrition and diversify income sources as well as conserving the environment. Employing sustainable fish farming techniques i.e Fish ponds the project targets and is working with the unemployed youth and vulnerable households organised in groups that have access to land for fish farming, using sustainable fish farming techniques.
Since the project’s inauguration in May 2016 the first four youth groups are a few months away from harvesting from their fish ponds.

As a means to increase the needy household’s incomes and improved nutrition, Caritas MADDO through its Cow Project gave out 128 pregnant cows and another 102 Pass on Gift heifers reared on zero grazing as an income generating activity.

Once again Caritas MADDO together with donor partners Micro financing Partners In Africa-USA gave out 79 original and pregnant cows to prepared farmers in the districts of Sembabule and others. for the past six years MPA has been supporting the Cow Project to increase household income and food security to the rural poor families in Masaka Diocese through dairy farming. MPA launched the construction and use of biogas in Rakai district in order to protect and conserve the environment besides saving the women from using smoky kitchen while preparing their meals.
Caritas MADDO, together with Terre Des Hommes-Netherlands celebrated “The Day of the African Child” in the District of Bukomansimbi with the participation of six Primary Schools with the Theme: 25 years after Adoption of the African Children’s Charter; Accelerating our Collective Efforts to end Child Marriage in Uganda(particularly) and Africa in general.
